Is there anything for my friends and family to do if they do not Hike with me?
Absolutely! There are a number of world-class shopping as well as outdoor activity destinations including horseback riding, golf, kayaking, bobsled rides (we're talking one half mile in 44 seconds on the 1980 Winter Olympics Course!), and much more!

The Lake Placid Area also offers a gondola to the top of Whiteface Mountain, mountain biking, two indoor and outdoor swimming pools, and even a movie theatre nearby. The Resort's new spa will also be open just in time for our visit!
